Kikilu Gelato
About This Spot
Stepping into Kikilu Gelato on Garden Street feels like discovering a small, spirited corner of Italy right in Hoboken. The space buzzes quietly with anticipation, the air tinged with the sweet promise of freshly made gelato and delicate pastries. It’s the kind of place where time slows just a little, inviting you to savor each moment — whether you’re browsing the colorful display of creamy scoops or lingering over a perfectly crisp cannoli.
The atmosphere strikes a warm balance between lively and intimate. Friendly voices behind the counter make space for genuine conversation, guiding you through flavors that hint at old-world traditions with a modern, personal touch. While the pace can carry the lively hum of devoted locals craving a sweet finish to their day, there’s still a calmness that makes it feel like a cherished neighborhood spot — a place you want to return to again and again.
What makes the experience here truly special isn’t just the gelato itself, though the rich, silky texture and thoughtfully curated flavors leave a lasting impression. It’s how the simple act of choosing a cone becomes an inviting ritual: the nutty warmth of pistachio, the bittersweet conversation of dark chocolate, or the gentle tang of Greek yogurt with fresh berries. Each scoop seems to carry a story, one you taste in the balance of creamy sweetness and vibrant freshness.
And beyond gelato, there’s a quietly delightful array of treats that add layers to the experience — from the crispness of freshly filled cannoli shells imported from Italy, to the soft indulgence of flourless chocolate cakes, each bite echoing a feeling of handcrafted care. This is a place where the everyday act of picking dessert turns into a small celebration of simple pleasures.
In all, Kikilu Gelato feels less like a takeaway stop and more like a place to pause. Whether you’re sneaking away solo to reflect or sharing smiles over an affogato with friends after a meal, it welcomes you with a gentle warmth — subtle, sincere, and patiently waiting for your next visit.

I asked for the staff’s recommendation and he right away suggested the pistachio flavor. Without a doubt, it was the best gelato I’ve ever had!

Came Sunday night. Best gelato I’ve ever had, I came from cali and this absolutely surpasses what i’ve had there as well. Awesome service from the gentleman, not as much the lady, she seemed very frustrated that we asked her for help, maybe very busy day. No matter! As long as the gelato and cone stays this good I will come back regardless!

Edit : I had a really bad experience after being a regular since the time they opened. They refused to mix two flavours , forced me to take quart instead of pint and got the order wrong for a quart . This is very disappointing. Top quality gelato. The pistachio and olive oil gelato is one of that best I have had. Milk chocolate is creamy and nice but definitely not my favourite. I recently tried their coffee and tiramisu, which is a good addition to their menu.

How cute is this place!?? Unique little gelato shop but it’s so much more. Italian treats and sweets of all kinds. The interior is super cute kinda has a Milan metro station vibe. The two people working was very friendly and walked us through all the options. I settled on a hazelnut and espresso combo gelato. Perfect finish to a date night after dining at otto strada (conveniently located two blocks away)

Always walked by here wondering why there’s such a long line. Now I know why — the gelato is sooo delicious! I’ve tried pistachio, tiramisu, and speculoos so far, and I can’t wait to try all the flavors!

A great vegan gelato place. Went in last minute before they close. The staff was kind enough to answer our questions and I know for a fact they were tired and did not hesitate to give us samples. Would like to come back to try different flavours

Yep, definitely stop here! I'm thinking this is probably the best gelato I've ever had… Hoboken, you lucky son of a gun!
